Parasite identification

Our staff have thirty years experience in this field and can identify adult and larval stages of parasitic helminths, ectoparasites, disease vectors and protozoa of domestic pets and livestock.

In addition, we will identify arthropods found on people (e.g. pet-associated or acquired abroad) or invertebrates found in houses or associated with an animal’s environment such as bedding, feeding troughs etc.

We can provide detailed information and advice in most cases e.g. on life cycles, biology and control.

Sample Requirements:
Worms and ectoparasites should be sent in 70% alcohol.

Skin scrapings should be sent dry in a sealed container.

Tissue samples should be sent in a suitable fixative.

Please detail relevant information using the additional sample submission form.

Results are available within 1-3 working days of us receiving the sample.
This may vary subject to the complexity of the request.
