Giardia

 GIARDIASIS

Giardia are flagellated protozoa which can infect many animals. 
Typical symptoms include chronic diarrhoea and weight loss.

Giardia
is being increasingly recognised in association with enteric disease in dogs.
This infection is potentially zoonotic.

Parasite Detection
Giardia
are detected by examination of faecal preparations.
Shedding of cysts is variable, so sensitivity may be increased by examining samples collected over three consecutive days.

Sample required: 1g fresh faeces.

Results are available within two working days of us receiving the sample.
